Occupancy Certificate (OC)
Local-authority certificate that a building is fit to occupy.
An Occupancy Certificate is issued by the local municipal authority once a completed building meets approved plans and safety norms. Without an OC, a building is not legally fit for occupation, and utilities or resale can be affected. Buyers should confirm the OC before taking possession.
